Old Capitol Kiwanis helps with the 4H Fair Kiddee Tractor Pull -  7/26/2010
The Iowa City Old Capitol Kiwanians again pitched in to assist with the Kidde Tractor pull.  This popular event at the 4h Fair drew 195 kids ages 4 - 12.  The Kiwanians provided assistance registering the kids and helping with the tractors and sleds.

Lemme Playground Equipment Painted -  5/22/2010
The Lemme K-Kids under the supervision of the Old Capitol Kiwanians and also with a little help from them painted playground equipment that the paint was always peeling off.  With a special primer and paint it is hoped that this will not be a problem anymore.  More photos of this activity are in our photo albums.

Kiwanis Cleans Park -  5/22/2010
The K Kids, Aktion Club and Old Capitol Kiwanis cleaned Kiwanis Park thoroughly again.  Neighbors in the area were also invited to participate and a couple of them joined in.  More photos of this activity are in our photo albums.

Iowa City Old Capitol Kiwanis Club Awards Scholorships -  5/6/2010
The Iowa City Old Capitol Kiwanis Club awarded $700.00 scholorships to Samantha Osterhaus (Regina), Deborah Ann Kutschke (City High), Ivy Hayward (Tate), and Taryn Tigges Circle K from the U of I).  The West High receipient, Brett Hanson, will be at the club meeting on May 13th to receive his scholorship.

Prayer Breakfast is a success -  4/2/2010

Kirk Ferentz was the guest speaker at the Iowa City Old Capitol Kiwanis Club’s annual Good Friday Prayer Breakfast. Camp Courageous always appreciates the Iowa City Old Capitol Kiwanis Club for their donation of plasticware to the camp. This is a wonderful help for the breakfasts and for camper use. Thank you to Al Wicks for delivering three big cases full!

Old Capitol Kiwanis Club Participates In Spelling Bee -  3/1/2010
Our club particpated in the Iowa City Public Librarys Spelling Bee placing 6th out of 9 teams.

Old Capitol Kiwanis Celebrates the 95th Anniversary of Kiwanis -  1/21/2010

Pictured Left to Right: Treasurer Rick Oehler, President Kathy Schweer, Secretary John Green, President Elect Al Wicks, and Last years president Jim Dane Today we celebrated the 95th birthday of Kiwanis.  There was a trivia contest about well known and not so well known facts that helped all Kiwanians understand how their club membership fit within the Nebraska Iowa District and Kiwanis International. Afterwards cake was shared with all in attendance.

Old Capitol Kiwanis does it again -  1/8/2010

Each year Old Capitol Kiwanis along with many other service clubs in the area ring bells for the Salvation Army.  There has always been a friendly competition to see which group can raise the most money for the Salvation Army.  Capt Smith has informed our club that we have reatained the honor of raising the most money for them.  This is the 2nd year in a row that our club has done this.  Over 20 one hour long shifts were staffed over three different days for a total of 60(more)
